Hello Power Women. So good to be with you again this week and hope you are enjoying summer. It feels like summer really starts when school is out. It warms up. It's been a cold spring in Utah so I'm loving the warmer weather and hope to enjoy a beautiful summer. And what summer plans do you have? We have two fun trips this summer. One to California to do everything but Disneyland. We're going to San Diego and should
be there when this comes out. So this fun timing and just doing SeaWorld, the ocean, San Diego Zoo, aquarium there, just fun stuff in California.
And then in August, me and my two oldest daughters are going on a cruise. Just us girls is our annual girl trip before school starts. that'll be fun. Cruises are my favorite. And so I'm having to show them what it is because they have been a little skeptical, but I think once they experience they'll know. So summer is fun and there's always adventures going on and
it can seem like an obstacle sometimes. And so I wanted to talk about that today because this is one of my favorite principles and beliefs I have learned in life and business that has really helped me to keep showing up and actually make things better when there are obstacles. So.
Some women I know hate working in the summer and decide not to, but are they doing it from an energy of power? And that's what I always like to say. It's not that it's right or wrong to work in the summer when kids are home, if you have more plans. It is really your choice. What is right for you? But are you doing it because you feel aligned and this is what is right for you and you can feel that? Or are you doing it because it feels like an obstacle and you don't know what to do and you feel defeated and the easiest thing
to
do is escape and avoid figuring it out. And that's where it's really good to remember that obstacles don't stop us. And you're like that makes no sense. What is an obstacle? An obstacle is by definition something that's getting in your way. say you have this goal to grow your business this year and reach certain points and it's summer now and you're like wait.
this is an obstacle. I didn't really see it in January when I thought of everything I wanted to do. I don't know how to work as much in the summer. I don't know how to still get enough time and energy to this. And I don't know if I want to spend as much time and energy as it may be because you're saying I want to go on more trips and I want to spend more time not working. And so then summer becomes an obstacle, right? Something that's in your way of your plan or so it seems because
When we think it's an obstacle that it's stopping us, that's kind of what the way we kind of think of an obstacle is like it's in the way of getting what we want. That's where a lot of people give up. And I have been friends. I am friends with people that even just the obstacle of summer has caused them to quit their business. And they thought, I'm just going to take a break. I'll start again in the fall. And the fall comes and they don't. Or
another obstacle, whatever it is, maybe you do a launch and it doesn't go how you thought it would. You tried a new offer, you raise your prices, you started hiring some people and it doesn't work out how you thought it would and it creates an obstacle. This is where people can often give up and...
full out quit. This is too hard. I can't do this. There's too many obstacles. It's not going how I thought it would. I'm out.
The truth is, in life and business, there will always be obstacles. We can't predict the future. We can't know how things are gonna work out. We can dream and desire, and I'm all for dream and desire. I'm not saying that in a negative way. You know I talk all about being aware of what you want. Believe in the future. See the future. What are you trying to create? Where are you going?
But then our brain subconsciously, very subconsciously often create a map, a way we're going to get there. And when an obstacle comes, there's a log in the road. Metaphorically, we give up. We say, â I can't get there now. This obstacle has stopped me. And that doesn't have to be true because
There's a quote by one of my favorite authors and speakers, Gabby Bernstein, that says, obstacles reroute us in the right direction.
I'll say that again, obstacles reroute us in the right direction.
So sometimes that can mean you have to take a different road to get where we wanted to go. And sometimes that can mean we're gonna go on a completely different road and different direction. And that obstacle actually got us where we really wanted to go.
and learning to see obstacles as a blessing in either scenario. It's either forcing you for a different way that is better than you thought, the way you thought didn't work, so something better is coming, or a reroute to a completely different direction, a different place you're going to. Both can be true. But then the obstacles are no longer stopping us.
but they are the way, they're the solution. And when we choose to see it as a solution, our whole experience changes because when obstacles hit, they are no longer bad and they never stop us. They are fuel and they help us see this is what I want. This is helping me figure it out. And so instead of
avoiding them or pretending they're not there or just sitting there staring at them. We embrace them. We listen to them. We figure out how is this rerouting me in the right direction. So I've been giving this example of summer, but I want you to think about what is an obstacle you've run into right now. We always have something. There's something in our path often and usually we're avoiding it.
or ignoring it or just staring at it. But what is this obstacle doing for you? How is it redirecting you or rerouting you in the right direction? Just think about that for a second. Sometimes it could take a little bit more help or thought to get to, okay, how is this a good thing? But I'll continue with this example of summer and see if that helps you to see what I mean.
If you feel that summer is an obstacle to reaching your goal, what if looking at how could I work less and still make more money or as much money as I was without it? You're going to think of a new offer. You're going to think of a new price. You're going to figure out a different way to connect with people.
completely new route than you were doing if you just plowed through the summer and did exactly the same thing but you're saying actually I want to go on more trips I want to spend more time with my kids day to day how could I work less and still make more it opens up your creativity and your inspiration to think of new ideas because it is not a fact that you have to work the same amount of time to make the same amount of money ever but this summer
This obstacle that you're seeing is creating a new route, but it's in the right direction because what if that reroutes your whole year? What if it gives you a way to have a totally new offer even in the fall, even at Christmas time because of this obstacle you ran into a summer? If it hadn't existed, it wouldn't have been addressed. We would just go through it doing the same thing without even looking at that.
And so the obstacle rerouted you in the right direction. What you really want, you want to be able to work less and make more money. And it is possible. Our brains put boxes around things that we get stuck in so easily. And this is totally possible for you to find.
And so when we embrace obstacles this way, it can also help us to really believe in what we're doing again, because I've also watched people as they start a business, they're so excited, it feels so aligned. And that often creates the misconception that it's just gonna happen. If this is right for me, it's gonna snap into place easily. Sexy millionaire overnight story.
and that is not true. There will be obstacles. There are things going on that have to be arranged, that have to be looked at to make your dream, your vision come to you. But I have learned to believe that if I'm embracing obstacles and not seeing them as deterrents or problems, but as blessings that are rerouting me, it's actually a sign I am doing the right thing because
I am getting everything put in place to make what I want happen. So if you have this big money goal for the year and you're hitting summer and you're like, wait, it's not going to work anymore. What am I going to do? This obstacle is helping you. It is a sign from God in the universe that you are on the right track. Now you're rerouting to get there a different way than you thought you were, but you're, doing the right stuff. You're getting help to make it happen.
And that feels so much better when we look at obstacles as signs that we're doing the right thing, not that we're on the wrong path. Or that if this is, if this obstacle is here, obviously I'm not supposed to be doing this. I've heard so many people say that.
This is where my word of effortless comes up a lot. I people think like, if it's an obstacle, it's not effortless. But it's all how you approach the obstacle, not the obstacle itself. When we're seeing them as a good thing, a reroute, and a blessing, a sign that we're in the right direction, solving the obstacles, making them solutions to things does become effortless. It becomes exciting and...
something you're looking for. And so instead of avoiding and being afraid of obstacles, they then become good, something we look for, something we're seeking to say, okay, what are the obstacles in this? So a method I have used with people when they set a goal with me as their coach is to right there, they say, okay, I have this big goal. And I say, beautiful, why do you want this?
because what and why with goals are the most important part.
And then what ideas have come to you first of how to do it? It's good to have some ideas, but not being stuck on the how or the win. So we can have say, okay, this is my fiscal year, goal. Great, but we're not stuck on it. It has to happen this year. It'll happen a year believing it will. then how, okay, what ideas do you have? What things do you feel like you could do with this? So being very,
very passionate about the what and the why, and then brainstorming some ideas with the how and the when, and then immediately listing what are the obstacles to you reaching this goal. And it's very fascinating because no one has ever said to me, I don't have any obstacles.
But isn't it fascinating that they weren't saying them to me before I asked. And so that goes back to the avoidance and pretending they're not there like, oh, somehow they're going to just go away. It's not that they just go away. They're actually solutions. And so we can walk through and say, I don't have enough time to do this. And sometimes it's good to look at, is this an obstacle of a limiting belief or is this like,
true when we need to find a way to make that happen. Great example of that is like I wasn't working when I started my coaching business. I was coaching in the evening and Saturdays my only free time where I had help with childcare and as I grew it got really hard to be doing that all the time and so I knew I wanted to expand to having time during the week to do it and it was an obstacle I had to face and I decided to hire a nanny.
and my business expanded so quickly when I did that. It opened up my time, my energy, and I put in that time and I did it until it became an obstacle. But then it opened up to a solution to hire a nanny and I had so much more time. And I got so much more done and I made so much more money. And the obstacle I saw was like partially the time and the money. Like I have to pay for someone. I have to commit to having enough money to pay them every week and month.
but I believed that this obstacle of believing I would have enough money to do it was worth it. I took that step and that obstacle created the best solution more than I even thought it would. I thought it would just give me easier time, but it gave me so much more energy and ability to be a present mom, to have work hours with boundaries and time I don't work, and then have downtime with my family in the evenings and Saturdays, which I love.
I did the work to get here and that obstacle became a solution to running the business that I have today that I love. Giving you examples I hope helps you see that obstacles will always be there, but pretending they're not there doesn't do anything. Thinking they'll solve themselves doesn't do anything. Seeing them is a blessing and listing them out with any goal that you have and seeing solutions available right there. So,
If we're saying like, okay, I want to start having more clients. This is your goal. Why is that your goal? Why do you believe in having more clients? I want to serve more people, have more impact, and I want to make more money and income. Beautiful. That is such a good what and why.
How could you do it? Okay, maybe I could open up some more spots. I could have this special offer that gives it a lower price and gives a promotion. I have this free offer, like we're having some hows there. Great. Okay, when? I'd love to have three new clients this month. Okay, great. We have all of that. What are some obstacles you see to this goal? Ooh, that's where it gets a little uncomfortable, right? We're all in the vision and prettiness of this goal, but seeing the obstacles right away, â
If I look at my schedule, I don't really have time for three clients right now.
when you actually look at it. Okay, how could I block off time for three more clients now so that they easily come to me? I need to rearrange this thing. I need to have a nanny. I need to do this. I need to stop doing this thing. And so I have more time for that. Your obstacle of not having time is gonna give you the solution you need to have three clients. Another obstacle. I don't know if I have enough people in my world that would want this.
Okay, is this a limiting belief? How many people follow you? This is what I get all the time. People think they have to have a million followers to have enough people in the world. No, you have a hundred followers. That's a hundred people.
Do you have enough people in your world? Okay. How can you connect better with those hundred people then? Okay, that's the obstacle. Maybe I have a hundred people in my world, so that first what I thought the obstacle is not enough people, I need to figure out how to connect with those people better. What could I do differently in how I show up in my marketing, in my social media, if I were saying followers? What could I do to serve them better? How could I let them experience my value more so they want to buy from me?
So that solution or that obstacle of saying not enough people in my world to buy from me helped us look at the limiting beliefs and what you could do and be to show up and create a solution for people to want to be new clients.
This is so simple but so profound and your energy and attitude around it of believing that obstacles are not a problem but a blessing, that they are rerouting you in the right direction helps you excited and look forward to them and no longer overpowered by them. It puts you right back in your power as the power woman to make power moves.
finding solutions quickly, doing things, and never letting obstacles stop you. I believe in you, Power Women, and I know that you have obstacles. We all do. But it's not if you have obstacles, it's how you see them and what you do about them that makes all the difference in finding solutions and being the Power Woman you are. I see you, I know you can do this, and I'm here.
believing that this is exactly what you need right now. So move forward, reroute, follow this new path wherever it's taking you and you are gonna create what you want or better.
All right, keep shining and being yourself.
